As the founder and CEO of The PRactice, Nandita Lakshmanan earns one of 2014 Individual Achievement SABRE Awards in recognition of her sterling contribution to the evolution of India’s public relations industry.
The PRactice may not be the biggest PR agency in India but it is unquestionably one of the best, showcasing a grown-up, ethical approach that has served the agency well in a fast-changing marketplace.
Lakshmanan founded The PRactice in 2000, with just Rs35,000 and four employees, it has since grown to become one of the country’s premier independent PR agencies, particularly well-known for representing technology clients in its home market of Bangalore, but also possessing genuine strength in consumer and healthcare. Clients include Adobe, Infosys, HP, Nicorette and Johnson & Johnson.
Through it all, Lakshmanan has remained a fierce proponent for the value of public relations, reflecting a firm that has won plenty of recognition for the quality of its campaign work, and has built specialized services in such areas as media training, digital, content and crisis communications.
In addition, Lakshmanan took The PRactice international via its alliance with Porter Novelli, which has now been in place for several years.
Lakshmanan began her PR career in 1993 with Genesis PR, where she was responsible for spearheading the firm’s technology vertical division as well as its operations in the South. She served as President of the Public Relations Consultants Association of India from 2006 to 2008 and is also an alumna of the Fortune/US State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership.
